Follow our Acceptable Use Policy: sexual content, nudity, face swaps and anything involving minors are not allowed, and violations lead to account bans.
Every clip follows the same three steps. The settings below are where most of the quality comes from, so here is how to choose them for different kinds of shots.
Pick Image to Video when you already have the exact first frame you want, such as a product photo, a portrait or a finished illustration. Pick Reference to Video when you want Vidu Q4 to build a new scene from separate pieces: a character, an outfit, a prop and a location.
Describe what happens over time rather than what the picture looks like, because the images already show that. Cover the action, the camera move and the mood, in that order. In Reference to Video, refer to inputs by position, for example "the character from reference image 2".
Duration runs from 3 to 16 seconds. Short clips render faster and are easier to get right, so draft at 3–5 seconds and extend once the motion works. The credit cost updates as you change settings, before you generate anything.
New to the model itself? Read the introduction to Vidu Q4 on the home page first.
Both modes run on the same Vidu Q4 Preview model and support the same lengths and resolutions. The difference is how much control you give the model over the first frame.
You upload one image and Vidu Q4 animates it. The clip starts from that picture and keeps its framing, colors and aspect ratio, so what you upload is what the viewer sees first. Your prompt only has to describe motion and camera work.
You upload 1–12 reference images and up to 3 voice references, and Vidu Q4 composes a new scene that uses them. There is no fixed first frame, so you choose the aspect ratio and describe the whole scene in the prompt. This is the mode for consistency across shots.
A simple rule: if you already have the frame you want, use Image to Video. If you have the ingredients but not the shot, use Reference to Video. Many creators combine them — they build a hero frame with reference mode, then animate variations of it with image mode.
Go deeper on each mode in the Vidu Q4 image to video guide and the Vidu Q4 reference to video guide, or check the release status on the Vidu Q4 Preview page.
Copy any of these and swap in your own subject. Each one follows the action → camera → mood pattern that works best.

The fighter launches a fast spinning kick. Dust and mist swirl around the robe and golden energy particles burst outward as the camera tracks the motion.

In the café from reference image 3, the woman from reference image 1 leans across the table and says, "We finally did it," using reference audio 1. Medium shot, warm afternoon light.
Mode: Reference to Video
Shot 1: wide shot of the man from reference image 1 walking into the empty station. Shot 2: close-up as he notices the red suitcase from reference image 2. Shot 3: slow push-in on his face. Moody, cinematic.

Vidu Q4 is one of several current AI video models. The notes below are based on each developer's public announcements; check the official pages for current limits and pricing.
ShengShu
The previous Vidu generation. It adds a text-to-video mode, which the Q4 Preview does not have, but tops out at 1080p. Choose Q4 when you need many references, voice consistency or 2K/4K output.
Official pageKuaishou
Kling's 3.0 series focuses on realism and consistency, with native audio and longer clips than earlier versions. A strong alternative for text-driven shots.
Official pageOpenAI
Known for physically plausible motion and synchronized audio, plus a social app with cameos. Access and regions are set by OpenAI.
Official pageGoogle DeepMind
Generates video and audio together, including dialogue and sound effects, and is available through Google's Gemini and Vertex AI products.
Official pageByteDance
ByteDance's newer model, announced with longer single-pass clips and large multi-reference inputs. Its figures are vendor claims pending independent tests.

You need a free account on this site so your credits and videos are saved, and you can sign up with an email address. It is separate from an official Vidu account, because Q4Video is an independent platform that accesses the model through its API.
This generator runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install. It works on desktop and in mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. We do not publish a separate app; for Vidu's own apps, visit the official Vidu website.
We do not publish ratings, so judge it by the clips on our home page and your own tests. In our experience its strengths are reference-based consistency, voice references and 2K/4K output. Its limits: it is still a Preview, it has no pure text-to-video mode, renders take a few minutes, and 4K costs several times more credits than 540p.
No. We do not distribute APK files, and you do not need one — open this page in your phone's browser instead. Be careful with unofficial APKs that claim to offer Vidu Q4, since they can contain malware.
New accounts receive free credits, enough for a short 540p clip, so you can try it before paying. After that you pay only for what you generate: credit packs start at $9.90, and the pricing page lists every pack. There is no subscription.
When a clip finishes, press the download button on the video to save it as an MP4. Every video is also kept in My Creations, so you can come back later to watch or download it again, even if you closed the page while it was rendering.
